Description

However, over the decade the two of them also grew apart, as family bliss didn’t seem to be their fortune. So Dorathea fled into her new role a s chief in editor of the Ducci magazine and indirectly as the queen of Italy’s fashion world. Dorathea, or also known as "the Countess" in the media, had soon earned the new reputation of being a tireless workaholic and merciless slave-driver to her employees. Nonetheless, Dorathea fiercely tries to deny all this by still donating enormous amounts of money to charity. Dorathea is torn between being herself and the boss of a prestigious fashion label.
Seeing his bride at a maximum of only a few hours a day, Guido on the other hand, fell back to his old traits and regained contact to the criminal underworld. It didn’t take long for him to, in a secret double life, become Italy’s most wanted maffia boss, the duckfather of crime.

So, the couple not only drifted apart, but fought each other on another level: Dorathea went on showing Italy in a light of glamour, intellect and high society, while Guido fought all sorts of other organised crime gangs to establish his own growing dangerous underground network of whom he is the sponsor and king pin. The media continuously and alternatively slash out headlines on these two topics, not knowing the leaders are the married couple they adored.

In a series of 5 drawings of the couple Dorathea and Guido, I’ll try to show the development of their love-hate relationship over the first decades of the 20th century and also quote fashion history.

Awww, I was kinda hoping it would work out for those crazy kids ;) But being under constant media scrutiny could probably impact even the *best* of relationships... Dorothea still has so much personality coming through in all of her poses. She comes through really well here, too.
